Ambassador's Fund for Cultural Preservation

In 2001 the Congress of the Unites States created the Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation to demonstrate U.S. respect for other cultures and help countries who are struggling economically preserve their cultural heritage.

Proposals may include preservation projects directed at:

  • A cultural site or sites,
  • An object or collection of objects in a site,
  • Other forms of traditional cultural expression, such as recording traditional music or dance, compiling a dictionary of an endangered language, recording oral history or traditional poetry, underwriting training to preserve traditional arts or crafts.
