NON-IMMIGRANT VISAS
Applying for an H1B or L Visa
Applicants for H1B Temporary Worker Visas must submit via DHL an original copy of the DHS Notice of Action Form (Form I-797), a copy of the original petition filed with the Department of Homeland Security (Form I-129), the Labor Condition Application (Form ETA 9035E), copies of any degrees or diplomas that prove the applicant is qualified for the position (or if qualifying through work experience, a resume and proof of employment for these positions). Applicants wishing to renew an H1B or L1 should also submit copies of recent pay stubs or copies of their last three years of federal income tax returns to show they have been working in the U.S. in the same capacity for which they were petitioned in addition to the documents mentioned above.
Applicants for an L1 visa must submit via DHL an original copy of the Notice of Action Form (Form I-797), as well as a copy of the original petition filed with the Department of Homeland Security (Form I-129), proof that the applicant has been working for the foreign affiliate of the U.S. company for at least one year in a managerial or specialized worker position, and any other supporting documents that prove the applicant is qualified for the position.
Every effort is made to schedule personal interviews within 3 to 5 business days after receipt of the required documents. However, the officer may require additional documentation or investigation in order to decide the case, which may result in delays. In addition, it takes from two to three days from the date a decision is made for the visa and passport to be returned to the applicant.

Applicants are strongly advised to allow sufficient time for processing and should not purchase plane tickets until a visa has been issued. Please note that we process many, many such applications over the December season when travelers are home for the holidays. Processing times may increase significantly during this time period and travelers should plan accordingly. |
Dependants of H1B and L1 visa applicants or visa holders should also submit their passports with an original copy of the approved Form I-797 via DHL. Spouses of H1B and L1 visa applicants or visa holders must include an original copy of their marriage certificate issued in the last three months. Children of H1B and L1 visa applicants or visa holders must include an original copy of their birth certificate.
H1B and L1 visa applicants are exempt of the US$12 appointment fee and they will be contacted by phone in order to schedule an appointment, in addition each applicant must present:
- Your valid passport
- Banco Continental receipt for the $131.00 application fee, payable in local currency (Nuevos Soles) at Banco Continental. The current cost is S/.395.00. The application fee must be paid within one year of the appointment date.
- The Electronic Visa Application Form (EVAF) completed, signed, and dated. Please remember to print all 3 pages of the form to bring to the appointment.
- 5x5 cm (2x2 inch) photograph, glued or stapled to the application form. The photograph must have been taken within the last six months; should not have been retouched (photoshop), the face must occupy half of the photograph; the subject must be facing the camera directly; the photo may be in color; but the background must be white. - Supplemental Nonimmigrant Visa Application (DS-157) to be completed by male applicants between 16 and 45 years old.
H1B and L applicants may apply by dropping their passports and documents at any one of the following DHL Worldwide Express offices between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday:
