The Application Process

The application process to become a Legal Permanent Resident of the United States is a four step process.  Please select one of the below steps for further information regarding each part of the application process.

Step One:  Filing a Petition with the United States Immigration and Citizenship Service (USCIS)

Step Two:  National Visa Center (NVC) Processing

Step Three:  Attending an Interview at the Immigrant Visa Section of the U.S. Embassy in Lima

Step Four:  Applying for Admission into the United States as a Legal Permanent Resident

Please note that no assurances regarding the issuance of visas can be given in advance.  A consular officer can make a decision regarding your visa application only after your formal application and all documents have been reviewed, and you have been personally interviewed by a consular officer.  Do not make any travel arrangements to move to the United States, dispose of property or give up your job until a visa has been issued to you and you have received your passport via DHL.
