Diversity Visa (Visa Lottery)

Diversity Visa (Visa Lottery)

Currently, Peru is not eligible to participate in the Diversity Visa (DV) program because of the high number (more than 50,000) of Peruvian immigrants to the United States over the previous five (5) years.

Each year, the U.S. Government compiles the immigrant admission figures for the previous five years to identify the countries that qualify to participate in the Diversity Visa program.  A separate determination is made before each lottery application period, resulting in the list of countries eligible for the program.  Every year several countries are not eligible to participate because they have "graduated" from the Diversity Visa program due to the large numbers of their citizens becoming Legal Permanent Residents during the previous five years.

Fraud Warning

Fraudulent websites are posing as official U.S. Government sites.  Some companies posing as the U.S. Government have sought money in order to "complete" DV entry forms.  There is no charge to download and complete the Electronic Diversity Visa Entry Form.  To learn more, see the Department of State Warning and the Federal Trade Commission Warning.

The Department of State does not notify successful DV applicants by letter or email.  Entrants can check the status of their entries by visiting the DV Entrant Status Check website.
