Judicial Assistance
Peru permits depositions. A consular officer can swear in witnesses, administer oaths to witness(es), stenographer, and interpreter/translator, ensure that any withdrawal or objection is recorded by the stenographer, make sure agreements of the attorneys and the names of all persons present are in the official record, ensure that the stenographer is instructed to transcribe the proceedings verbatim, ensure that the stenographer gives the transcript (once prepared) to the witnesses for correction and signature, and provide a certification that all witnesses were duly sworn by the Consular Officer. If you would like to request the services of a Consular Officer, or have questions relating to judicial assistance, please write to LimaACS@state.gov.
